![]() ![]() Personally, I find 'weakness' really not to be the experience that I feel and sense, what I would describe such as would be, physical 'interference,' inner flickering of muscles and/or inner wave like sensations, 'buckling of the knees' is more fitting but not something so many actually experience often. It being such a tricky subject, beyond the tricky subject of Narcolepsy itself alone, Cataplexy seems to be something only those who have it, are able to or, can express how they are effected by it that is if they're aware of it and/or experience it beyond a certain degree, which statistically if correct being under 15% of persons with Type I, not so many actually live with an ongoing severe (collapsing) form of it.When I say 'clear cut' Cataplexy, I mean the person is within moments from the triggering (the moment the laughter hits them), or instant like, collapsing into complete full muscle paralysis, perhaps the paralysis is barely full beyond for a moment (not even a second), but the person is on the floor in an awkward, possibly twitching somewhat, position for seconds to minutes, or longer.Emotion and/or excitement becomes (or can become) overwhelming to the point that a person can collapse in an instant like a ragdoll, into some awkward contorted position, or perhaps the person droops their head down as they laugh, maybe their jaw droops. There are many different experiences people express, always it is talked about and considered to be physical, 'weakness' or 'buckling of the knees' is often the terms used. ![]() So, having had a lot of severe 'clear cut' Cataplexy in my life, I have or can speak on something I've not really heard or read others go into, and I believe or would guess some experience this other thing I'm going to attempt to describe.
